With the giving season right around the corner, many Canadians are making plans to spread love, cheer and generosity amongst family, friends and charities. The holiday season also seems to remind us all that there are many living in need, and charities and organizations that work to enhance the lives of underserved Canadians rely on our help.
With a payments market that is steadily moving away from cash and cheque transactions and seeing more electronic methods take the lead, it is time for a new alternative to the way fundraisers create opportunities for donors to get involved.
According to the Payments Canada Trends Report for 2018, Canada is a global leader in debit contactless card use. Consumers and donators alike want more convenient and digital methods of payment to suit our fast-paced lifestyles.
“The average Canadian buys something with a credit card 9.2 times a month, followed by Tap & Pay 9.1 times a month, and uses a debit card 8.5 times a month.”
It is evident that we value a quick and convenient opportunity to spend our money as we like. As fewer Canadians choose to carry cash, coin and cash donation boxes are lagging behind in their efforts to secure funding for nonprofits and charities.
But how secure are these new technologies? Fear of the misuse of personal information or being ‘hacked’ deters some Canadians from utilizing the technologies available. However, 88% of Canadians trust their bank to offer secure digital banking services. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI) is an information security standard for organizations that handle credit cards to ensure that user data is protected. Consumers who ensure they are only making purchases at locations that are PCI compliant can protect themselves from data falling into the wrong hands. Tap Fundraising is proudly PCI compliant.
We have partnered with Zomaron to ensure your donations are received efficiently and securely. All of our devices are encrypted and managed remotely by our parent company, Funding Innovation. Our Tap software has been designed so your personal information is never stored on any device, and in the unfortunate event a device is stolen, the device becomes immediately nonfunctional.
We are very excited to launch Tap Fundraising and provide more convenient opportunities for you to donate to causes that feel important. We strongly believe in militant transparency- meaning we value 100% honesty and transparency at all times, and are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. You can always contact us at tap@fundinginnovation.ca or by phone during our business hours.
