Tap Fundraising is proud to partner with Support Our Troops and present the Support Our Troops ‘Tap and Take’ box. One of two charities we are piloting Tap Fundraising with, Support Our Troops is a charitable cause for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), their military members, and their families as well as former members of the CAF and their families. Support Our Troops has two main objectives- to look after the ill and injured and to support family resiliency.
The military community lives through unique events that require specialized supports. For the most part, there is a culture of ‘working the problem’ and finding solutions themselves, but when a crisis hits Support Our Troops is there.
Arguably one of the most recognizable Canadian ribbons in circulation today, the yellow ribbon is a sign of the wearer’s loyalty to family, friends, or loved ones away in the military. Did you know that the yellow ribbon became synonymous with loyalty to active military members in the 1949 film “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon” starring John Wayne? The female lead wore a yellow ribbon to show her love for a cavalry officer who’s uniform featured a yellow stripe down the pant leg.
